What is the EPQ?

The EPQ is an A-level standard standalone qualification designed to extend students’ abilities beyond the A-level syllabus.

• It can be taken as an extension of other Level 3 qualifications
• It’s worth half an A-level (28 UCAS points)
• Many universities make lower A-level offers to students undertaking an EPQ

The EPQ is a research-based project that involves writing a dissertation (usually 5,000 words). They can also undertake practical projects that involve creating an artefact or a production, which are then are backed up with a 1,000 word report. The final stage is a 10-15 minute presentation to a group of non-specialists about your topic.
