EPQ Support &
Full Programme

The Extended Project Qualification is very highly regarded by leading UK universities. Leading Education's Full EPQ programme also awards up to 28 UCAS points upon completion

Stand out with qualifications beyond the A-Level syllabus

Extended Project Qualifications are looked upon extremely favourably by top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial. All describe it as ‘of immense value’, and it will absolutely help with applications. For any universities requiring UCAS Tariff points for entry, the top grade in an EPQ is worth 28 UCAS points – equivalent to half an A* in a full A-Level subject.

Leading Education can support students with EPQs in two ways. If your school already offers the EPQ, Leading Education can help with additional 1:1 support and booster classes. If your school does not offer the EPQ, Leading Education can offer a full EPQ programme (recommended 25 hours of tuition), including the marking of the assignment and a full, recognised qualification offering up to 28 UCAS points.

An EPQ is either an essay of 5,000 words, accompanied by an explanation of the process and a presention, OR an ‘artefact’ (e.g. a piece of artwork) with a supporting, shorter essay.

Highly Regarded

Although G5 universities do not include the EPQ within their official entry requirements, it is very highly thought of and all their websites offer a ringing endorsement of any student who chooses to study an EPQ.

Cambridge

“We welcome the EPQ and would encourage applicants to take one as it will help to develop independent study and research skills valuable for higher education.”

Oxford

“The EPQ will provide an applicant with the opportunity to develop research and academic skills relevant for study at Oxford. Candidates are encouraged to draw upon relevant EPQ experience when writing their personal statement.”

Imperial

“The extended project qualification (EPQ) is a really positive addition to your education. […] It is of immense value to your own personal and skills development, and can provide additional support to your personal statement.”
